Battles: Okinawa and Iwo Jima |
6 Movies
110 Minutes |
America's island-hopping campaign culminated in two dreadful Pacific battles. At Iwo Jima, nearly 7,000 G.I.s sacrificed their lives to secure victory. Just a few months later, nearly twice as many perished at Okinawa.
Yet the cost for the Japanese was total: an entire army of over 120,000 men was wiped out, and the Japanese homeland lay open to assault.
You've seen Flags of Our Fathers and Sands of Iwo Jima. Now, see it as it really happened. Featured on this DVD are four rare films, including three rare COLOR movies, made in the wake of these epic battles. Watch as warships bombard Iwo, and Marines raise the flag atop Mt. Suribachi.
In "The 6th Marine Division on Okinawa" see Marines backed by carrier-based aircraft and flame-throwing tanks take on elite Japanese forces. It's history - as you've never seen it before.
Color and b&w films. Run time: 110 minutes.
