Founded in the early 1830's by Philadelphia jeweler Matthais Baldwin, the Baldwin Locomotive Works built an enormous number of steam locomotives before ceasing production in 1949. This catalog shows the company's full line of Pacific Type locomotives. These popular 4-6-2 engines featured high boiler power and large adhesion weight, and were designed for handling heavy, fast passenger traffic.
