Aircraft Carrier Mishaps |

Outside of combat, landing on the deck of an aircraft carrier is just about the most dangerous thing you can do in an airplane. Catching tailhook on arresting gear induces a sudden deceleration that's often referred to as a "controlled crash."
But sometimes things go terribly wrong! Featured on this DVD are six rare films made by the U.S. Navy to train pilots and deck crews how to avoid disaster. They include footage of barricade arrestments, under-powered catapult launches necessitating ejections, and an explanation of the causes of the fires that ravaged supercarriers Oriskany, Forrestal and Enterprise.
Featured films are from the 1950's-70's era that include: "The Angled Deck Carrier", "Carrier Mishaps", "Down to the Wire", "The Mark 5 Barricade", "Disasters Don't Just Happen" and "Flight Deck Safety".
Color + b&w films. Run time: 120 minutes.
